The time is here, Samsung’s next big thing has finally been revealed. For those who were disappointed by the Galaxy S6, the good news is that there are some nice things to look forward to. For starters, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been revealed at Samsung’s Unpacked event that is currently underway. So what did Samsung do this time to make the S7 Edge and S7 revolutionary? Well, let’s take a look.
Looking at the phone, you’ll be taken back to when Samsung released the Galaxy SIII, the S7 is much rounder as compared to its predecessor. However, the phone still manages to borrow the design language from the Galaxy S6 series.
The S7 comes with an always-on display that is 5.1 inch in size and has QHD resolution, the S7 Edge has the same resolution, however, the screen-size is bumped up to 5.5 inch which is a nice addition considering how many people prefer to have larger screens.
Both devices are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8890 SoC, however, we have been told that there will be a Snapdragon variant in near future, we just don’t know which one. We’re opting for the latest Snapdragon 820 considering how LG is already using that in the G5. We have a surprise this time, the Galaxy S7’s chip has a copper pipe running through the processor that has water in it. So, yes, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be water-cooled. Both devices will also have 4 gigs of RAM and 32/64 gigs of internal storage.
However, another interesting feature that is making a return is the micro SD card slot, this has already been confirmed via a rumour. The SIM slot will double up as a micro SD card slot. This feature was previously missing from the Galaxy S6 series and the Note 5. Partially trumping the previous rumour, the Galaxy S7 will be having 3,000 mAh battery and the Galaxy S7 Edge will have 3,600 mAh.
The nicest feature of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is the camera, both phones feature a 12 megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture, the previous king was the LG G5 with f/1.8 aperture. The camera is clearly a nice departure from the S6. The front will be a 5 megapixel camera with the same aperture. Last but not the least, both the devices will come with IP68 rating, again, this was a rumour prior to Samsung’s announcement today.
The devices will go on sale on March 11th, next month. For more information, stay tuned and let us know what you think about the devices in the comments below.
