A band of hackers who go by the name Phantom Squad have issued a threat that they will be shutting down both PSN and Xbox Live this Christmas. For those who don’t know, Phantom Squad is known for taking down several different services that are normally used by people around the world.
The announcement was made on their Twitter profile, not only they are threatening to shut down both services, they are planning on keeping it down for an entire week. Here’s what the tweet says.
We are going to shut down Xbox live and PSN this year on christmas. And we are going to keep them down for one week straight #DramaAlert

We are not sure what the hashtag #DramaAlert means, is the hacker group actually planning on taking down both of the services that are used by millions of people around the world or people are going to gleefully use the services on Christmas and the week after. We can only wait and see how it goes in 10 days.
According to the Twitter profile, they took down Xbox Live a few days ago but restored it after a while, they did the same with games like FIFA, Star Wars: Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops III. We haven’t received a word from either Sony or Microsoft regarding this situation but we do hope they manage to tighten their security in order to prevent such a breach. We do know that Xbox Live went down a few days ago but we aren’t sure if that was because of the attacks done by the Phantom Squad.
We will let you know more about the story as it develops, keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.
