Samsung Galaxy S is the first device of the Samsung’s Galaxy family and is certainly an outdated Android device and only supports Android 2.3.7 officially but that doesn’t mean that you have to sell your existing Galaxy S smartphone in order to buy a new one which supports the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Samsung Galaxy S has a single core processor and is not suitable for handling complicated multi-tasking operations but a big thanks to sooti, an XDA-developer who tweaked the custom ROM for Galaxy S and now it not only features the multi-tasking ability but also offers the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Sooti has tweaked the popular Omni custom ROM and it now offers a smooth and stable Android experience. If you own a Galaxy S I9000 and want to install this smooth Android 6.0 M ROM then all you need to do is to follow our detailed guide on how you can install it. But before proceeding, we need to remind our readers that this ROM is a custom ROM and is not officially supported by Samsung. As, the ROM is currently in beta phase, there are some features that are not working properly which are SELINUX and External Storage SD which sometimes causes bootloops. Other than that, everything is working perfectly fine.
- Before proceeding, make sure you have properly taken the backup of your important data including personal photos and videos.
- Your device should have more than 60 percent battery to prevent any unexpected shutdowns during the process.
- You have installed the Samsung Galaxy S USB drivers on your PC.
- Your device must be rooted and have Custom Recovery like CWM installed.
- You should have enabled the USB debugging mode. If you not then go to settings > Developer Options and enable it.
