LG started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the last week of October and then pulled down the update, those who were lucky enough to update the phone reported that rolling back to older Android version was no longer possible using the LG flash tool, mainly because the phone didn’t recognise the device anymore. Thankfully, that is no longer the issue. There is a new tool called LGUP that will allow you to downgrade from Android 6.0 Marshmallow without causing any issues. The same tool can also be used to update your LG G4 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow; we already published a full guide on that.
If you are willing to downgrade your LG G4 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, this guide is for you.
Preqrequisites
Downgrade LG G4 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
- Extract LGUP and install both files you get.
- Extract the KDZ file you downloaded and keep it at a place you can remember.
- Now open LGUP and connect your phone; your phone will be listed there.
- Choose ‘Upgrade’, click on ‘File Path’ and then navigate to the folder where you have the KDZ file placed.
- Once you has selected the KDZ file, simply press the ‘Start’ button at the bottom and wait for the upgrading process to finish.
Congratulation, you have successfully downgraded to your LG G4 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. In case you faced any issues, feel free to let us know.
