Sony is not very supportive to its old smartphones especially the one which belongs to a mid-range family. The one I’m talking about is Sony Xperia T LT30p. The device has capability to run Lollipop OS easily but unfortunately its still on the same old Jelly Bean and there is not even any update from Sony regarding the software update. If you own an Xperia T then we have a good news for you and that is now you can update Xperia T to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the help of custom firmware. The CyanogenMod 12.1 is based on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and it offers a whole new experience. Everything is fully optimized and it works as smooth as butter on Xperia T.

If you want to install this custom firmware on your Xperia T then you have to follow our detailed tutorial. But before proceeding, we would like to remind our readers that this ROM is a custom firmware and for installing it your device must be rooted and should have a custom recovery like CMW or TWRP installed. So, if you are ready then let’s start shall we.

  • Before proceeding, make sure you have properly taken the backup of your important data including personal photos and videos.
  • Your device should have more than 60 percent battery to prevent any unexpected shutdowns during the process.
  • You have installed Sony Xperia T USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Your device must be rooted and have Custom Recovery like CWM installed.
  • The Bootloader should be unlocked.
  • You should have enabled the USB debugging mode. If you not then go to settings > Developer Options and enable it.
  • This guide is only for Sony Xperia T . Don’t try it on other variants.
