A tragic news for the entire gaming industry, the legendary Satoru Iwata, CEO of Nintendo passes away, the news is confirmed by Nintendo itself in a statement:
“Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.”
The cause of death is state as growth in bile duct, Iwata spent last few years fighting this sickness, that is also the reason for his absence from last year’s E3.
Satoru Iwata started his prolific career in 1980 at Nintendo as a programmer, a lot of portion of Kirby’s success goes to Satoru Iwata who created the name ‘Dream Land’ when Kirby first debuted on Nintendo’s Game Boy in 1992; in 2000, Iwata was appointed as the director of the company and just in 2 years, he became the president. Satoru Iwata witnessed and overseen the launch of several Nintendo consoles like Game Cube, Nintendo DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U.
Nintendo didn’t tell us who will be filling in for Satoru Iwata. TechJeep would like to express its sadness about the tragic death of a gaming legend.
