Sony’s upcoming Xperia Z4 has been making rounds for quite some time. We have had a fair share of leaks regarding the phone in the past and now it seems like the moment of truth is here. Xperia Z4 has finally appeared for the first time in the wild and the phone is shown from all the sides. The pictures are surely showing us the interesting bits of the device. So without any further ado, let’s get down to business.
The first picture shows the Xperia Z4’s front panel along with the home-screen. From the text it seems that the phone is currently being used by a Korean user. You can also see that the charging port has been moved at the bottom and there are no flaps. For those who don’t know, flapless design still offers water resistant. I’m not sure how Sony managed to pull that off but I’m thoroughly impressed. We’ve seen this innovation in M4 Aqua and Z4 Tablet. The front camera has been moved to left instead of being on the right and there is a small notification LED on the top left. The front facing stereo speakers are back and quite similar to the ones we have seen in Xperia Z2.
Let’s get to the next picture:
The picture above shows the left side; we have a camera shutter, the volume rocker and the power button which seems like a bit above the middle of the phone. As for the material; it doesn’t seem as polished as the one we have seen in Xperia Z3 and looks glossy. We are not sure if Sony’s using a different type of material or it’s actually plastic. The micro SD card slot has also been removed from the left side. We’re still not sure if Sony’s completely ditching it so there’s still hope left.
The back side of the phone looks quite like the back side of the younger brothers. Sony is still offering the same camera/flash set up and the flash is still a single LED instead of dual that is being offered by some direct competitors. Due to the blurry nature of the picture, it’s hard to decide whether or not the sensor got upgraded but we’ll be having more news soon. We have the familiar Xperia and Sony branding as well as the NFC icon above Sony.
On the left side of the phone, there’s only one flap; we are assuming that this flap will be housing both the micro SD card as well as the nano-SIM. Speaking of the phone; let’s shed some light on the specs. According to our source, the Xperia Z4 will be coming with an octa-core Snapdragon 810. There will be the same 20.7 camera with improved sensor, 5’2 inches of screen with 1440p and 1080p resolution options, 5 megapixel front facing camera and the most interesting bit will be in-house S-Master HX DACs. Sadly, Sony has removed the magnetic charging port but we are hoping that the traditional charging port provides faster charging or equal charging to the one that was provided through magnetic charging port. The most interesting point here is the usage of 4 gigs of RAM. This is certainly the largest amount of RAM we have seen in a smartphone.
Finally the last photo shows us the top of the phone with the standard 3.5mm headphone jack as well as the microphone. The phone will carry the model number E6553, and is codenamed IVY. The phone also carries IP68 certification. Do keep in mind that all of this is not official and we’re still waiting for an official confirmation from Sony but by this time, it’s safe to say that Xperia Z4 exists and it looks like that. We’ll keep you posted as soon as there’s more information. Stay tuned.
