Sony recently released the much awaited Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on some phones of the Xperia Z lineup. The newer OS version was thoroughly tested and reviewed. Luckily for all the Xperia Z2 users, you can get root access on Lollipop as well but the custom recovery wasn’t working. Today we have a good news for all the users who didn’t update their phone to Lollipop because there was no recovery available.
Following the simple guide, you can successfully install recovery on Xperia Z2 running lollipop with locked bootloaders.
How To Install Recovery on Xperia Z2 Running Lollipop (Locked Bootloader)
Step 1: First make sure your phone is rooted and running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Step 2: Download the byelinux from here.
Step 3: Now download the dual recovery from here.
Step 4: Extract the file you downloaded in 2nd step and turn on the USB debugging on your phone. For doing so; go to Settings > About Phone > Tap the build number till you get the message that you’re now a developer, go back to settings and Developer Options and turn on USB debugging.
Step 5: Run the extracted file and connect your phone. It’ll take a moment and your phone will reboot.
Step 6: Extract and run the file you downloaded in 3rd step and connect your phone again. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 7: The flashing will start and once it’s done, your phone will reboot itself in recovery. Reboot your phone from there and you’ll be done.
That’s it, you have a fully rooted Xperia Z2 running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as well as a fully working recovery.
