Sony Xperia Z3 users can now rejoice as the unofficial CyanogenMod 12 that is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop made its way to the Xperia Z3; Sony’s current flagship smartphone and we have cooked a quite on how to update it to the latest version. Although the official Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is available on the Xperia Z3 and is currently rolling out in stages; users who are looking for stock Android experience will particularly enjoy. How To Update Xperia Z3 On Android 5.0 Lollipop CM12

Step 1: Download CM12 for Xperia Z3 and GApps as well from the links given above. Once downloaded; extract the boot.img separately from the CM12 zip file.

Step 2: Place that zip file in your android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools folder. 

Step 3: Connect your Xperia Z3 to your PC and transfer the above downloaded zip files in the root of your SD card.

Step 4: Turn off your phone and turn it back on in bootloader mode by pressing and holding the volume up button and plugging in the USB cable at the same time. Your phone’s LED will turn blue showing that your phone is now in bootloader mode.

Step 5: Once you’re in the bootloader mode, go to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools folder and launch a command prompt there.

Step 6: In the command prompt, type the following command and press enter:

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Step 7: Once done, type the following command and hit enter:

fastboot reboot

Step 8: Now boot into recovery by pressing the volume up button or volume down repeatedly as soon as you see the Sony logo.

Step 9: Once you have entered the recovery, do a factory reset, then go navigate to ‘install zip from SD card’ and select ‘choose zip from SD card’, choose the Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM you downloaded earlier and press the power button to confirm, do the same process for the GApps.

Step 10: Once both zips have been flashed, go back and choose ‘reboot system now’. Your phone will reboot and it will take about 5 minutes for the first boot.
