Sony finally started pushing the much awaited Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact. We made a guide on how to update the phones to the latest version of Android as well as a review for Xperia Z2. Sadly, updating the phone to the latest version, the root gets broken. Luckily, there is a way to root the latest Lollipop on Xperia Z2 but do keep in mind that the recovery becomes unfunctional. However, if you are willing to overlook the issue; you can feel free to update the phone.

Step 2: Now you will have to flash the .ftf you downloaded in the first step. If you don’t know how to flash it, refer to this guide.
Step 3: Once you have flashed it, you can root it using the root kit you downloaded in the first step. Just follow the on screen instructions and your device will reboot and it will be rooted.
Step 4: Once the one’s rooted, install NUT’s dual recovery. Get the installer link from here and extract and run it.
Step 5: Your phone will reboot into the default recovery once it’s done, reboot your device.
Step 6: Now you are going to need to download the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop flashable zip. You can get it from here.
Step 7: Once downloaded, put the file in your phone’s SD card.
Step 8: Reboot your phone into recovery mood.
Step 9: Wipe data/system, cache and dalvik.
Step 10: Install the zip file you copied in your phone and it will take some time to flash; sit back and relax for few minutes while the firmware gets flashed.
Step 11: Once it’s flashed, reboot your device. Do know that the first boot takes up to 10 minutes.
