Wanting to shift to Android but hesitant about the user experience? Don’t worry, there is a way out. Luckily, you can now try the Android right on your computer. Today we are going to talk about how the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop can be tried on your computer. It is actually a very easy and straightforward process, all you need is some basic knowledge about how to install the Android emulator on your PC and that’s all. Without wasting anymore time, let’s get down to the basics and learn how to install and test Android 5.1 Lollipop on your computer.
Step 1: Download and install Android SDK from here; Download Android SDK Installer.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder you have installed the Android SDK and open ‘SDK Manager’.
Step 3: Wait for the application for load. It will take some time.
Step 4: Once the packages are loaded, we will be needing “Android 5.1 (API 22)” as well as “Android SDK Platform-tools” (this will be available under ‘Tools’).
Step 5: Now click on ‘Install Packages’, you will be asked to confirm the packages you chose to install as well as to agree the terms and conditions. Click on the install button and wait for the packages to be installed.
Step 6: If you’re looking for just the android emulator, simply select ‘SDK Platform’ and ‘ARM EABI v7a System Image’.
Step 7: Navigate back to Android SDK folder and run ‘AVD Manager’, once it is up and running, click on ‘Create’. You will be then given some settings, modify accordingly.
Step 8: Now you can select the device you created and click ‘Start’.
Step 9: Make sure you don’t change anything and click on ‘Launch’.
Step 10: You will be given a few flickers on the screen and then you will get a screen with the boot animation of Android Lollipop.
That’s it, we’re done; you can now use Android 5.1 Lollipop on your PC.
Note: Do know that this is just an emulator and the hardware features won’t be available.
