Almost every high end smartphones received the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update and out of them Nexus 6 was the first device to get the Lollipop update. After getting the update, the first thing that came to mind is how to root Nexus 6 running on Android 5.0 or Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Now, the good news is if you are using Nexus 6 LRX210 and are running on Android 5.0 Lollipop then you can root your device using CF-Auto-Root method.

With the help of CF-Auto-Root, you can easily root your device. It’s a simple one click solution and all you need to do is to download all the files and follow the steps below.

Before getting started:

Before proceeding, make sure you have backup all your favorite data and settings using a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod CWM or TWRP. Creating a backup via CWM can help you to restore settings to its previous self if anything goes wrong.

Enable USB Debugging on your device.

Download the Nexus 6 USB Drivers.

Download and install Android SDK from the Android Developers website.

Set up the ADB and Fastboot on Windows.

Download Fastboot, extract the files and place it in android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory.

Make sure your device is fully charged or have more than 60 percent battery remaining.



Step No 1: – First, you need to download and extract the CF-Auto-Root package ( on your PC for Nexus 6.


Step No 2:- Now, connect the Nexus 6 device with PC using a USB data cable.


Step 3:- Turn off the device in order to boot into Fastboot/Bootloader Mode.


Step No 4:- Power ON your phone while pressing and holding the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power keys at the same time until the Fastboot menu appears.


The Fastboot directory will be in the platform-tools folder in your Android SDK directory.


Step No 5:- From the CF-Auto-Root files in your Fastboot directory, launch the ‘root windows bat’ file:



— Run root-windows.bat



— chmod +x

— Run


Mac OS X:

— chmod +x

— Run


Step No 6:- This process may take some time, so wait for the process to be finished successfully.


Step No 7:- The Nexus 6 will now reboot and and it may take around 4-5 minutes to boot after rooting.
