It has started, the first announcement from MWC is here and it’s by Acer. The company just announced 3 new Android Lollipop based smartphones that are pretty good looking and are packing decent set of specs. Acer’s been pretty busy in the smartphone market and is focusing on mid-range smartphones. The three phones that are announced are; Liquid Z220, Liquid Z520 and Liquid Jade Z. While the first two smartphones are considered as mid-rangers while the Liquid Jade Z aims for the high range. All three phones are quad-cores, however, the Jade Z comes with a 64 bit processor and a new display technology called Zero Air Gap display. Apart from that, the one thing common in these 3 phones is the Acer’s own software as well as new features that focus on media consumption and selfies.
Without further ado; let’s take a look at the phones. The first one is Liquid Z220. The smartphone packs a 4 inches of WXGA screen that has a PPI of 233, there’s a 5 megapixel camera on the back and a 2.0 megapixel camera on the front that will be providing the magical selfies. Both the Liquid Z220 and Z520 have identical specs however, the camera has been bumped to 8 megapixel on the later and there is also DTS Surround speakers on the front. Both the phones are running on Snapdragon 400 that is clocked at 1.2 gigahertz and have a gig of RAM under the hood. Take a look at them below. Acer Liquid Z520 looks slightly different, sadly, we don’t get the on screen buttons on it.
Moving on to the big hitter, the Acer Liquid Jade Z is an entirely different being from Acer and one of the most good looking phones. The phone comes with a 5 inch FHD display. There’s a 13 megapixel snapper on the back and 5 megapixel on the front. The phone only weighs 110 grams and is only 7.9mm thick. This isn’t the thinnest of the phones but we have seen worse. There’s a curved gorilla glass 3 display on top of Zero Air Gap display, the display has a very neat trick up its sleeve called the ‘Read Mode’. Using this mode will eradicated the blue light emission from the image processor and it will be easier to read the text on phone. The phone comes with a 64 bit MediaTek processor and has LTE support as well.
The Liquid Z220 will retail at €89 and the Liquid Jade Z will cost €199. The phones will go on sale this month, as for the Liquid Z520, it will be costing €109 and will go on sale in April.
