Screen recording was first announced in Android 4.4 Kitkat. However, it needed a rooted phone along with a screen recording app to function. Yes, there were some phones like Sony’s Xperia Z2 and Z3 and OnePlus One that offered screen recording without the need of root on their latest updates but others were left behind. Things have changed this time around as with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, the OS also got a lot of new, updated APIs. One of those APIs also allow the developers to develop third party apps that can do screen recording with much ease. This means users don’t have to root their phones to record their screen. Now a lot of people consider this feature a waste, well, not entirely. Most tutorials require step by step guidance that only a screen recording can provide. So it’s existence isn’t as useless as people say it is.

unnamedMoving on to the apps, since the Android 5.0 Lollipop is relatively new, it is safe to say that the number of apps that can be used to record your phone’s screen is limited. There are quite a few apps that can currently record screen. There’s one app that stands out of the crowd and called AZ Screen Recorder. The app is amazing enough to be called the best screen recording app that is currently available on the Play Store. First of all, the app is entirely free, and unlike some free apps, it doesn’t limit the functionality. It means you can record videos as long as you want without any limitations such as a watermark or app’s logo floating around. Amazing, isn’t it? The only limitation here is the lack of support for older OS versions.

Once you install an launch the app, you will be given a small tool-bar on the middle of the screen. From there, you can choose to record, access settings or the file manager to see where your screen records are being saved and finally an exit button to quit the app. On your first recording, you will be given a small tutorial regarding how the app works. Once the recording starts, you can always have an access to it in your notification bar from where you can pause, stop or start a new recording. You are also given the options to disable or enable the audio, change the bit-rate as well as the resolution of your videos through the settings option.

Let us know what you think about the app in the comments.
