According to reports, a significant attack is being launched across the internet. HostGator found that this is a well organized attack and about 9000 IP’ addresses are currently involved. Cloudflare’s CEO and founder Matthew Prince thinks the hackers are controlling more than 100,000 bots. They also believe that the hackers are using low powered home PCs.
Both Cloudflare and Hostgator have taken a number of precautionary measures to protect their customers from such an attack. In this situation it is best to choose a strong password, and change the user name to a different one and also number of security based WordPress plugins like limit the number of logins from the same ip-address.
